I spend far too much time on Pinterest. I have some sort of pin stashing disorder that means if I want to do everything on my boards I'll need several million pounds, a lot more energy and motivation and to live until I'm about 150. That said, for once, I actually decided to do something in one of my pins.
This is what I saw. And I thought I can make something like that! Not as neatly, granted, but I can make something similar. So here is my work in progress. It's for my boyfriend's baby nephew Liam who loves cars. Who knew a baby could have preferences? Not me. I'm planning to put his name on the middle somewhere and his date of birth in the wheels. The year in one, the day and month in the other. Struggling to decide on how to do his name though! Whether to put a little garland across and put his name in that or to cut out letters from felt (he has a short name, thankfully) and stitch those on or to just embroider it in the middle, on its own, which scares me a bit because I'll probably do it wonky. I'm out of colours though, so I have time to ponder!
It's fabulous and I LOVE the blog name, very you!
ReplyDeleteI'd embroider the name onto a square of whatever you have left just to see how it looks, then you can attach it to car body, or you can stitch it again on body itself. Use Back-stitch and keep it simple. unless the car is ginormous, the cut out letters would be so fiddly you'd scream.
Great stuff!
Hmm I didn't think of doing a practise. I'll do that. I think the only colour I have left is pink which probably wouldn't be good. Keeping it simple is my only option really, cos I'm not experienced with this sort of thing!
